Last day at CCLS-U
Last day at CCLS-U
This community is such a blessing to everyone who visits. God is doing great things among the people of Kawete and we are grateful to be in partnership with our brothers and sisters in Christ here in Uganda.
Thank you for the prayers and support. Watch for the March '23 Trip Recap Video to be shared in the next week or so.

The clinic was very busy (as always) and Dr. Kent and the nurses worked tirelessly to meet the needs of babies through adults. The team brought two CCLS-U graduates to their secondary boarding schools (until the secondary school in Kawete is built). We played and prayed and continued to build relationships with the community.

The rain continues to bless Uganda and hasn't changed the joy we have experienced.
Today was a busy day in the clinic as seen in the picture below:

It rained and rained and rained... Pastor Meggers went to teach at the Seminary before the rest of the team left for Kawete. This is how the day started for him:
Every day is filled with joy and wonder here in Uganda.
Dr. Kent worked tirelessly in the clinic, seeing everything from a baby with cleft lip, bronchitis, gastroenteritis and expectant mothers. Jeanette and Katie spent time with the Nursery students and talked about Palm Sunday. We wove paper palms and taught them a new song. Come to Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood on Palm Sunday to see Kawete kids and our kids singing together through technology. The rest of the day was spent meeting new children in need of scholarship.

Today was an amazing day (as are all the days here in Uganda)!
We began the day with interviewing two very qualified individuals for the position of Coordinator of Financial Reporting and Management as we begin the construction of the National Lutheran Secondary School in Kawete! The architect, Lydia, shared plans for the ground floor of the storied building and plans are being made for the phases of construction.

Pastor Meggers was up early and off to teach at the Lutheran Theological College of Uganda. After our interviews, we went to the village of Kawete and met with many of the students on scholarship through generous donors in the US.

Happy Sunday!!!!
We were blessed to worship under the tree in the school compound. It was pouring rain when we awoke but the skies cleared and we were able to sing and pray with a sermon from Pastor Meggers. The service was led by CCLS-U graduate, Pastor Anthony Odessa! That's right - he attended CCLS-U, secondary school and then the Lutheran Theological College of Uganda. He is now assigned to his home village to serve. Praise God.
As part of the celebration, the Primary 7 Graduates were encouraged with a Lusoga (local language Bible) and a goat (the offspring will help offset the cost of Secondary School). Many people spoke including the congregation chairperson and the new head teacher. Another exciting speaker was Jimmy Nkuutu, also a CCLS-U graduate and, now, a teacher!!!!!!! Bishop Charles Bameka asked him to submit his resume for the NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL!

March 11 - a little late :)
Thanks for your patience as we experienced some "technical difficulty."
What a wonderful day in a beautiful place! Today was full of joy with goat purchasing at the market for the Primary 7 graduates, seeing old fiends, learning some traditional xylophone skills and visiting Lydia and her 7 children.

March 10 - end of day
WOW...today started with a downpour; a solid African rain including thunder. It rained and rained and we worried our day would be lost. Oops - let God lead and, guess what? We finally made it to Kawete and celebrated the ground breaking for the new secondary school!!!!! It was a beautiful day as we dance, sang and worshipped together.

Yesterday was quite an adventure...we woke up in a hotel near the airport because a few of our bags were confiscated (tax issues) and we needed to go back to claim them (and pay taxes). By the time we finished that, it was time to go by the Uganda Bible Society to pick up the Lusoga language Bibles we will be gifting the CCLS graduates on Sunday.

Today will be a very wonderful day as we will "break ground" for the Lutheran Secondary School adjacent to the Primary School! Unfortunately, it is raining but God will bring sunshine through the faces of the children as they anticipate the new school! The community and some of the Lutheran Church of Uganda board members will be present for the celebration.

We all finally made it to Uganda...Kent and Katie landed on time but David and Jeanette were delayed by snow in Brussels. Once we reunited and went through customs, we decided it was late and driving to Jinja was not a great plan; a bed sounded better. We are all wide awake and ready to see our friends in Kawete! The internet is very "spotty" but we will post as often as possible. Thanks for the continued prayers!
